Kyle "Coach K" Higgins
Coach Higgins was a standout academic student, all-state wrestler, track team member for Forbush High School. After graduating with high school with honors, Coach Higgins began his freshman year at Campbell University as a religion major. That same semester, he walked onto the wrestling team and earned a starting spot. During his first two years at Campbell, Kyle completed his mandatory volunteer hours at the elementary school across the street. It was during this time that he realized his calling was education. Kyle is a graduate of the University Campbell with his B.S. in Elementary Education and was a four year starter, and a co-captain his senior year on the wrestling team. He now lives in Old Fort with his wife Story and dog, Sarge, and teaches third grade at Black Mountain Primary.
Joe "The Baptizer" Johnston
Joe Johnston began his wrestling career in 1980 in the ninth grade. It only took 1 match and he was hooked. Wrestling became his favorite sport. Throughout High school he received many prestigious awards for his ability on and off the mat. Graduating from a 5 A school as an all state wrestler in Michigan brought him several scholarship offers at college level. Choosing not to take the wrestling scholarships, he attended and graduated from Southeastern University in order to pursue his calling into ministry. During college up to the present he has coached wrestling in several high schools and participated and coached in various clubs. In his 26 years of experience, he has coached 4 individual state placers, one of which was a 3 time champion, and multiple conference champions and state placers.

Crystal " The Nose Plugger" Shirk
Crystal, MS, LST, ATC is in her 4th year as the Head Athletic Trainer for Owen High School and works for Southeastern Sports Medicine. She is a native of Asheville and graduated from AC Reynolds 1996. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree from UNC Asheville and then moved to West Virginia where she completed her Masters in Athletic Training in 2004. She has worked for 10 years as a certified athletic trainer in several middle school, high school, and college settings. She currently resides in Black Mountain with her husband Conrad, 2 sons Ian (4) and Daniel (2), and her cat and dog.
